Seven bikers met at Trout lake to train for our Sooke ride next weekend. Amazingly, no one drove. Anita biked from North Vancouver, Katy biked from Richmond and Mae (new member and her first trip with the club) from Burnaby. We had an very cohesive group, eager to test if they could ride 70+ km without a hitch.
Katy thought we should call it the Cherry Blossom ride as all the Cherry trees were in full bloom. We did a huge loop from Trout Lake to Strathcona, Granville island, Arbutus bikeway, Arthur Laing bridge, West dike, Steveston, South dike, Shell road, Bridgeport greenway, Canada line bridge, Masumi Mitsui Bike way, Dumfries bike way and finally Woodland bike way. Our stats: 66.05 km, 347 m elev. gain, average speed 10.8 km/hr and duration 6:03:59. And yes, we completed the trip without a hitch!
Now we just have to hope for good weather for our three day bike trip from Vancouver to Sooke!
