We had a snowy and cold start to our historical walking tour. I told the story of how at the turn of the century you could skate down Victoria Drive and onto frozen Trout Lake. A business man on his sled pulled by dogs went out onto the frozen lake and unfortunately they all perished.
At the turn of the last century, the historical York theatre charged 3 cents to see a movie because it had mice. The old Grandview theatre charged 12 cent a movie because it did NOT have mice. Both buildings are still standing today, although the Grandview theatre is now a pet store on Commercial Drive.
We had a lovely delicious Asian lunch and the sun hung out with us for the rest of the afternoon.
