MemberI’d like to report we did it! We got 14 riders for our Valentine bike ride. We had 17 people sign up with two no shows and one late cancellation. To attest to our merriment, my sign in sheet is covered in chocolate and donut stains with a sprinkle of coffee. I was thinking we should start offering foodie bike rides, sampling the local delicacies along the way, YUM!
Today we were not disappointed. Monica bought us, (for the second year in a row), warm mini-donuts that dissolve in your mouth! I brought a big box of Ferrero Signature Chocolates to share too. At the wharf, some ate Pajo’s famous fish and chips and for dessert, some went to the Sinful chocolate shop.
Oh yes, and about the bike ride…7 bikers met at Clark Park at 10 am. Unfortunately there are no WCs in this park and Louise generously offered her home. From there we biked down Dumfries bike route to the Canada Line Pedestrian Bridge. On the Richmond side, we met another group of 7 bikers. Our large group (held together by our volunteer end person, David), biked leisurely down the crabapple ridge bike route–with all its twists and turns. Several riders said it was new for them and really enjoyed it. After lunch, the group split into two, several had appointments and took the railway greenway home, lead by Louise. While the rest elected to go on the longer west dike route, to see our glorious ocean, mountains and 100,000 +/- migrating snow geese.
BTW, today’s riders travelled from Whistler, Richmond, New Westminster, Kitsilano, West End, East and Westside Vancouver. That is why we had two meeting points.
At the end of the day, we dispersed in a similar splatter.
Happy Valentines! Ye
