MemberSeven of us enjoyed a 9 hours-long challenging hike to the base of the Lions guided by our fearless leader Maurice and anchored by the effervescent Katy.
The trail started in Lions Bay at 200-meter elevation and climbed another 1,400 meters through varied surfaces from service road through soft, tree covered paths and scrambling rock. About 4.5 hours we reached the base, and we took an hour-long lunch to enjoy the stunning views and to fortify ourselves for the hardest part yet to come- the Descent. We made it down safely with only minor scrapes. We were elated and agreed this had been a perfect day, it was warm and sunny, we were “good” tired, and the camaraderie was great. This was my first hike with the NSH. How lucky was I?! (Katy wll have pictures to accompany this report)
