Yesterday, three Northshorehiker went to snowshoe the skyline trail to the backside of rainbow mountain. Last time Rex came with me, we had knee deep snow and did not reach our destination, as it was exhausting to break trail. This time we succeeded in 3.5 hours! I was super lucky today as I had my own personal Sherpa. Susan is training for the North Coast Trail and offered to carry my stuff! Unbelievable! She made my day super sweet. To top it off Rex saw a hopping bunny rabbit on the trail. See attached video. Susan noted this was our Easter Bunny! A much appreciated and unexpected treat.
The snowshoeing was super tough and steep. We completed it in seven hours (almost 11 km) with elevation gain of 700 m plus. We had super views up top. It was Susan’s first time to the skywalk trail.
