We had a great successful long weekend in Whistler and Squamish. For my hike in Whistler, 13 people hiked from the bottom to the top with me. Three people decided to stay longer to explore the russet lake and return back down the way we came. The rest of us kept going across the musical bumps. On our way we bumped into two other NSH hikers who went up the gondola and were hiking to russet lake. A third group led by Cristina hiked the high note trail as they felt my hike was too long. Indeed my hike was almost too long for us too. It was 31 km, 2000+ m elevation gain and was 9.5 hours in duration. It was a hot sunny day and some people drank 5+ litres of water. The musical bumps weren’t just bumps but long sizzling climbs in the sizzling. But we did it and I had two minutes to spare to catch the last peak to peak gondola at 4:45 pm and the last Blackcomb cable car was at 5:15 pm.
We had an excellent strong, chatty and enthusiastic group. One hiker said they saw more glaciers on this one trip than on her entire 43 day hiking trip across Alaska!
