MemberEight riders met at Science World, with one other meeting us at UBC.
As promised, if you join my weekly bike rides, you will get to appreciate the lower mainland in a whole new way. One can bike 35 km in 2+ hours and see a vast area, unlike hiking, where climbing the BCMC can take 2 hours, (I have nothing against BCMC as it is a great cardio workout).
We rode along the waterfront trail and stopped to admire the 26 million dollar view of the giant Buddha sleeping in our local mountains.
At UBC, we biked behind the Anthropology museum, Nitobe memorial garden, East mall, West mall and past all of the new $$$ residential projects with their lovely water features to the Endowment lands. One person who works at UBC, said they didn’t even know about the peripheral areas.
We biked down the Power-line trail to 29th avenue, down the Arbutus ridge bike trail and back to Science world. It was a beautiful sunny, but crisp day. Definitely, wearing wool base layer, down jacket and wind jacket were mandatory.
Hope to see you on my next bike ride through Burnaby, riding all the way to the Fraser river and all the way back down to the Burrard Inlet. The River to Sea bike ride, with lots of my signature twist and turns, to delight those who love adventure.
