Salt Spring Island Bike Trip June 20 to 21, 2018

Thanks to everyone for two magnificent biking days! As  Greg said, it was like a mini vacation. It’s was indeed heavenly and just what I needed in my hectic life. Big thanks to Lesley for organizing and leading, and for Lynne and Rick for the support vehicle and Coleman stove – as well as bringing homemade bake goods – pure luxury. We were truly spoiled.

I will always have the sweet memories of biking on quiet farmland roads with the gentle breeze cooling off our hot skin, the warm cottage lake swims, the delicious food sampling at the Salts Spring Island cheese shop, the never ending “micro” hikes, the silky touch of a bark-less Arbutus tree, our after dinner walk to the historic Ruckle Turkey farm and having a private tour of the barn, camping where the land meets the sea and being lulled to sleep with the ocean’s lullaby, waking to sounds of the crashing ocean waves and watching the sunrise through the crack of the tent door and finally the endless “chicken clucking” laughs. Pure joy!
