Thanks Barry for leading us on this hike. Ten of us left the Park & Ride at Park Royal around 7 am. We were at trailhead around 9:30 am. We reached to Ring Lake around 12:30 pm.
Hiking to Ring lake was a piece of cake. The trail up to the lake is well flagged. After a quick half lunch by the lake, we started to hike along north shore of the lake. The plan was to climb summit reach from south slope. It is mostly scree up to 30 degrees. We had another summit break at 2,192 m to finish the rest of lunch and snacks. It was around 2:15 pm. After taking 360 views and checking alternative routes for descending, we decided to follow the same route. When we came down by the lake, the time was around 4 pm. Couple of us were hiking at our limits. Ascending to and descending from Ring Mountain was another lifetime experience for me. Chanting sound of poles while hiking through loose scree were soothing our minds and bodies. Barry’s original estimate for this hike was 10 hours. He was close. When we finished the hike, it was around 8:15 pm. Couple of us were thinking that Ring Mountain hike was between a C hike and close to a D hike.
