Our first day was a long drive to the trailhead. (3 hours+).  The gravel road from beautiful Pemberton Valley was bumpy but doable.  There were even a few cars going up, but SUV or 4WD better.   The hiking trail itself was steep, muddy in places and involved some scrambling, but only takes the average hiker about an hour each way.   Once at the top, the scenery was gorgeous, lots of different trails between the three lakes to explore and camping abundant.  Bugs were out, end of July.    Total elevation was 450m but tricky getting down,  and the whole hike was about 4 hours including meandering through the meadows.   On the return drive, we stopped for food and refreshment at the Beer Farmer in Pemberton Valley – highly recommended and stayed overnight at Nairn Falls Provincial Campground (front country), which was great.  On day 2, Early walk along to the canyon at Nairn Falls, before setting out on a much easy 11km at Cheakamus Lake.   We did have to book a day pass, but there were spots available the day before.  Original plan was to try and get a day pass for Joffre Lakes, but much to our annoyance, these are scooped up by local guides, who then sell on Viator or Get Your Guide for anywhere from $250 – $780.  We complained to BC Parks who will investigate, as four of us tried to get day passes for Joffre with no success.  Cheakamus was a good back up.   Great group and super two days of easy to moderate hiking level.
