The ride started in North Van and crossed the 2nd Narrows heading out to Burnaby and the CV Greenway . On the way we found the Sugoi warehouse where they were having a Black Friday sale. We considered stopping to shop, but abandoned the idea when we saw the line up. So, on to coffee stop at Costco Wholesale on Brighton Road . Everybody ordered the latte which was a Starbucks brew in a size large cup, for the princely price of $3. Phil ordered the rather large hot dog, and before he chomped down on it, mused about a possible future with a defibrillator. Wendy and I shared a delicious turkey sandwich . The turkey was on a bed of melted provolone cheese garnished with pesto sauce and artichoke on toasted fresh Italian bread. All this we enjoyed in the Costco ambience of bright fluorescent lights, modular furniture, and Christmas shoppers. Did I mention that our leader fell off the bench. No harm done, she immediately recovered herself.

Following coffee, we cycled along the Fraser Brunette waterway and on to New West Quay. Very quiet for years, it is showing signs of life with Christmas craft displays, restaurants, the Vancouver Circus School, and people in action. Following lunch, to and up the 711 trail, past Metrotown and back up the Sea to River bikeway toward North Van. Yours truly, the sole non-resident of the North Shore, departed the group as they crossed the CV Greenway. The group was small enough and familiar enough with each other that everybody had a good visit with everybody else. The weather was wonderful for November: dry, cloudy and sunny (after the fog lifted). Present: Holly, Viire, Wendy, Phil and me. Thanks to Holly for leading.

Thanks for the report, Gillian! One tiny correction – Costco’s latte is only 1.99. So cheap I fell off my chair! Thanks to riders – great day and great company.
