Nine hikers trekked from the Round House on Whistler Peak to musical bumps ( oboe, piccolo and flute), singing pass, up cowboy ridge and down to the old ACC hut on Russet lake. The New ACC hut will officially open Sept 7. It is fully equipped with a furnace, electricity and fireplace. It looks very luxurious! The roof is almost flat because little snow accumulated due to the high winds on the ridge. We can attest to that as soon as we got to the other side of cowboy ridge, it was cold and windy.
That was my last training hike for our big NSH Switzerland Haute Walker trip in September. We have 16 members going and we have certainly bonded over our many potlucks, summer camp in the Rockies and on our weekend and weekday hikes.
