InactivePark Royal 8:30 AM – a beautiful fall morning and 20 hikers showed up behind White Spot where lots of construction barriers constrict the area. Doug F. suggested a new meeting place just north and up a ramp off Marine Drive at the Park and Ride which is still close to the bus stop, so worth considering. Katy got us to reassemble at St. David’s and carpool from there or independently drive to Bowl Cypress.
With this crowd, our leader delegated two of the very experienced hikers to lead and she provided a very welcome sweep. Off we headed to Christmas Gully. Gorgeous following the cascading water up the narrow gorge. For a few of us, this was a new route. The sun shone warmly in the saddle, between the two peaks of Strachan. Up to our lunch spot at the north summit with views of the Lions, Harvey, Hanover, Brunswick, well, just keep turning and name more mountains. 360 view. After a very pleasant lunch break, we descended and ascended to the second high point/ski lift and down via the ski runs to our cars. What a great day. Thank you Katy.

KeymasterWe were all luck out with good weather on Sunday – a beautiful day for hiking, the sun was welcoming and we had an extended 45 minutes lunch. I am thankful to have Vinit leading us up, Steve taking us down and all of you hiking together as group with no lost hiker. Everyone was back to the parking lot and no one was left on the mountain…. Attached is a group photo on top of Strachan North Peak – 1459m
