Nine of us caught the ferry to Langdale and then the Stormaway over to Gambier for a lovely hike up Mt. Killam. The weather was gorgeous and although it was warm we were mostly under tree cover. There are a couple of creek crossings where we could refill with water as well. We had a wonderful time even though one of us got stung by a wasp, one of us neared heatstroke and another put our her shoulder (which happily popped back in again). Drama aside, Gambier offers some wonderful hikes amid Douglas maples, huge firs and past the Killam “camel.” Thanks to all who came. Worth the trip over.
