In The glorious mountains of Vancouver’s North Shore’ David Crerar gives three different routes to climb Mt. Collins, Bowen Island’s third highest, and northern peak. We took bikes and cycled 5k to Honeymoon Bay to do the second route. An 1k trail to Honeymoon Lake and then an 1k bushwack to the summit. The bushwack is described as ‘arduous’ and ‘a fairly life-denying exercise’. But we actually found it to be open pleasant forest, and as easy as bushwacking gets. We then descended via his third route, an old road on the north side, which we discovered also connected to our bikes at Honeymoon Bay. This is a really pleasant loop trip (bike and hike) that not many people know about.
