Thanks Katy for leading us on this steep hike… Four of us started to hike from trail head around 9:35 am. When we stop for lunch around 12:40 pm, three of us had decided not going further on the trail. The visibility was disappearing. We were wearing our microspikes since trail became snowy. But walking along the trail was becoming more tricky. We finished the hike around 3:15 pm. You may see my pics and panorama from the following links:

See you on the trails…March 23, 2015 at 9:13 am #4853Elizabeth KittsMemberHi Katy and Bengul,
As I was unable to join you on Sunday, hiked Mt Harvey on Sat. partially in the rain and further up in the snow. I am curious about when you encountered snow and at what point you stopped. Was it just before the final ascent?
Looks like you had a better view at the viewpoint. Its a steep one for sure.March 23, 2015 at 8:43 pm #4883Bengul KurtarMemberI think we started to walk over a little snow patch just before the Lions viewpoint.
When we stopped for a lunch, I think we may need to hike another hour to reach the top as per description. This was my first attempt to hike up…
March 23, 2015 at 10:05 pm #4884Katy PoonKeymasterWe did not summit on Sunday. Just before the storm came in, we had a nice view of the West Lion and Howe Sound at the meadow. While the wind was howling, we got into the forest and made our way out to the ridge . As we started climbing up the ridge, we hit snow patches on the trail. It was slippery at times where micro spikes are needed. We were at least 45 minutes from the summit, the ridge trail was covered with snow patches and the weather condition deteriorated. When the flurries started to come down, we decided to stop, had a quick lunch and called it a day. By the time we were back to the meadow, everywhere was sogged in. We were glad that we were making our way down not up. There will be another day to summit Mount Harvey. Thank you Pam, Bengul and Ye.

Although we had better weather we didn’t get to the top either. It took us about 7 hours but we took our time going down as the trail was muddy ( from previous hikers) and a bit slippery.
We must do this hike again when Spring is really here.
