Thank you Brent for leading one of his classic hikes to Mayne Island.
The weather forecast was unfavorable but our dedicated leader was at the meeting spot before 7:30, the schedule time, to greet any brave souls who would come rain or shine. It was pouring rain in the early morning hours so you would not know if anyone would show up.
On this gloomy Sunday, five of us headed out to Tsawwassen ferry terminal in Brent’s car. We would meet another member on Mayne Island and a friend of mine on Galiano. We had a nice visit to the Farmer’s Market on Galiano where we loaded with locally picked cherries and some freshly baked goodies. Then, we took another ferry to Mayne Island. The weather was getting better and both ferry rides were very relaxing and pleasant.
Before we started our main hike, Brent took us picnic at the lighthouse park where we were the only group there. This was very unusual and a treat for us with the view in peacefulness.
The after-lunch hike in the woods and to the view point were very rewarding. These just ended our day perfectly when we walked back to the scheduled ferry for home.
