ParticipantWe were greeted by a sunny and minimally cloudy day. After gathering at the trailhead we ascended up Skyline ridge trail at a moderate pace. We encountered some patches of snow and a few muddy spots near streams.
The hikers were treated to spectacular mountain views and high altitude views of the chain of Lakes below. On route to Snow Camp mountain we hiked through snow covered trail and stopped for lunch near the end of the forest.
Once above the treeline we hiked through alpine Meadows and to the top of Snow Camp. As the hikers continued some of the group split off to return to trailhead and the rest went on to the summit of Lone Goat Peak. Views at the top were remarkable, especially the double-summit Hozomeen Mountain. We noticed what looked like dark storm clouds approaching and decided to return to trailhead asap.
The snowy terrain was more slippery/slushy on the way back down. Good conversation helped pass the time.
We gathered at my camp in the evening around the campfire for dinner and conversation.
Thanks to Cheryl for the great photos!
