We didn’t end up going to St Mark’s on Sunday. We ran into the ranger just past Bowen Lookout. He said the west side of Strachan is always risky for avalanches, due to all the gulleys that can funnel snow across the Howe Sound Crest trail. He said we should have avalanche training before doing St marks in the winter. I’ve been doing it in winter for a few years, ignorance is bliss. We did Eagle Bluffs instead, rewarded with a view!
