Could the weather have been any better today?
No doubt some people felt it was too hot.
As it happened we needed the sunshine, because there’s still a huge amount of snow on the ground.
Despite quite a few inquiries, and my own efforts to reach out to friends with children, we were a small group of 2 kids and 5 adults.
The route I’d planned to take was the Winter Access Trail Loop. The snowline has been ascending, but it was pretty solid from the upper warming hut (elevation 1000m).
The going wasn’t too hard, even without spikes, but it did require a bit of perseverance.
The views at the top were fabulous, and the sliding back down was actually fun.
Distance about 7km, elevation gain: 415m, time: 4hrs 30.
