Lesley led 10 of us on a lovely day up High Falls Creek hike.

It was a perfect day for scrambling up to open bluffs for some amazing views.  The group started at 10:38 am and returned to the car by 3:30 pm with 15 minutes snack and 30 minutes lunch breaks.  We were rewarded with wonderful views of Squamish River bends surrounding by snow peaks mountains.

This was a great hike with varied terrain. From a flat meandering path (a.k.a. 5km+ logging road) to steep, scramble sections with chains and braided ropes.  The best view point on this trail is when the “High Falls” flowing down the cliffs making multiple rainbows when the sun shines through the tumbling water.   The strong flow of the water at this time of the year can be heard throughout the day as we hike along the canyon.

At the end of the trip, I was wondering how many steep sections we had scrambled upon.  So, I went on google search and discovered some details of this trip.   “There are 7 ropes and chains on the trail to assist up the steep parts. Total Distance: 10.5 (RETURN in loop) with elevation gain of 595m.”

As a bonus to this trip, we have two botanists (Lesley and Anne) and one experienced birder (Janice).  With their knowledge, the group enjoyed a wonderful hiking trip and lessons to identify wild flowers and birds’ chirping.

Here is a link to my photos… you may want to see how many flowers you can identify.

Thanks Lesley for leading this great hike and everyone to make the trip fun.   I had a great day!  Katy
