MemberOver the past several years, individuals have vanished on the difficult Hanes valley crossover. In fact, we witness two groups that were ahead of us, but came out of the forest two hours later as they got lost! That is why joining a club like North shore hikers is a great idea.
The views on this hike were equal to the Dolomites with Crown mountain’s jagged peaks. The hardest part of Hanes valley is the creek crossing. We were lucky that the water level was super low and we could step from rock to rock.
This is one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever led. It’s like an African safari! We saw the extremely elusive BC mountain goats on Goat mountain, the Sooty grouse birds on Grouse mountain and finally the extremely rarely ever seen Camels on Camel mountain!…(after the debate last week between Trump and Harris, I learnt that if you say a lie enough times, it becomes true, right?) and just so you know, I did not personally witness any North shore hiker eating any animals.
FYI:
1. BC is home to half the world’s mountain goat population and the Province has a global responsibility for the mountain goats as they are an iconic species, symbolizing the rugged mountains and true wilderness.
2. The oldest camel bones ever found in the world were in Canada! Camels actually roamed here and were designed to withstand cold winters and snow blizzards, as they have double eyelids, wide “snow shoe” like feet and can store water and food for months…what do you think? Is this a lie or fact?… hmmm
