We had a glorious hot autumn day for our 25+km hike. We had 12 hikers interested and of course we could only take 8 hikers with the BC Park’s day hike pass system. Everyone took hundred’s of photos as the views were aesthetically pleasing (eye-candy). The variety of terrain is uncontested- from old growth trees with a moss/mushroom laden forest, to majestic views to Helm, Corrie, Empetrum, Black tusk, Panarama Ridge, Mt. Price, Clinker, Table, Castle Towers mountains, acres of black cinder with freakish circular blobs of lime green grass paralleling helm lake, over to the autumn colours of Taylor meadows and a quick sprint down the 22 switch backs/6km back to our cars. Our excursion to the “moon” lasted 7 hours and 46 minutes, arriving in plenty of daylight to drive home.
Final note: The buffet fields of blueberries were super fragrant and bursting with sweetness.
