Thank you Barry and Rosemary Brisco for leading these two hikes in April – the weather forecast is not always promising.   We will get a mix of clouds and sun, 50-60% chance of rain and the forecast can be changing by the hour.

The Brisco’s are seasoned hikers, super organized and experienced leaders.   I went with them on Norvan Falls and I was impressed with their hiking and leading skills.  Barry and Rosemary are always there for the hikers to make sure we are comfortable within our hiking pace and we are hiking in a group – this is the most important!

Despite a rainy morning, 12 of us are waiting eagerly at the parking lot** to start our 14km to the Falls.

** It’s seasonal pay parking (starting April 1) – $18.50 for the day!

We reached the “chute” in an hour to have our official first break… but we need to keep going as the rain seemed to come down harder.  We are happy to continue without much ado.   The pace was very good throughout the hike.   The group was in good spirits and there were a lot of very interesting conversations going…. a jolly group of 12 hikers through the well-maintained trails with raised board walks and some bridges over muddy and rocky areas… a big improvements since I hiked this trail 10+ years ago.

We were at the Falls for an early lunch that was perfect for me.   I did not have a big breakfast and the timing was just right!   The water was not too high for this time of the year but it’s still spectacular… everyone enjoyed the views, finished our lunch leisurely and ready to start our return when the sky started to clear.

The sun came out on our return journey and we were awarded with the beautiful views of the mountains at the chute before joining back the river trail.

Thank you so much the Brisco’s for leading the trips.   Also… I met a few members of the club whom I have not hiked with… what a great company and I am looking forward to hike with you all more… Katy
