    Surprisingly an easy “C” hike for early February as there was no snow on the road, the rubble creek parking lot and the switch backs up to 1000m elevation or so. We did not require snowshoes as there had been no new snow in two weeks. We did use microspikes at the 6 km mark and decided to hike up to Taylor meadows and loop back down to Garibaldi lake for lunch. We saw a few trail runners passing us and packing the trail down. With so few people around, we had the lake to ourselves. It was utterly quiet and still looking across the windless lake to the Sphinx Glacier. I read that a fellow fell in the unfrozen lake a week before and called Search and Rescue to rescue him as he waited in the Sphinx shelter.
