On July 6th six of us from Katy Poon’s Manning Park trip headed out in hopes of making it to the top of Frosty. It was à perfect day for hiking , dry with a bit of cloud cover. What was obvious as we headed up the switchbacks was the obvious damage from the storms this past winter as there were so many downed trees, several across the trail paths at one point making it difficult to even find the trail. We continued on, encountering the odd patch of snow until the 8km mark when the snow became consistent. We continued to the meadows but with the snow, route finding was becoming a challenge. There are very few markers on the trail. The snow continued to deepen beyond the meadows and we made the decision to stop for lunch there and then head back down. We were about 2 km from the peak. It was still a worthwhile hike. I expect it will be free of snow shortly and worth another attempt.
