    BUGS!

There back and are a pain in the $%^&*.
This could limit my summer hiking season. Bugs drive me crazy.

The NSH B & C hikers started out from the Garibaldi Provincial Park parking lot at the early hour of 10:42 am. This is an early bright and cherry group!
Only two of us intended to go to the Elfin Lakes and The Gargoyles which meant we would have to hussel if we wanted to be back before dark.
After an easy start we made the Red Heather Campground in an hour. Already perspiring heavely we kept moving uphill to the high point of Pauls Ridge before a short break. The sun was bright and the snow was soft which made it easy to slide the snow shoes across the surfice.

It only took two hours and 50 minutes to get past the Elfin Lake Lodge which was still covered in snow up to the second floor. At that point Zig and myself took a 25 minute break to drink, eat and size up the condtions going up to The Gargoyles. 55 minutes later we were past The Saddle and up on the south Ridge over looking our trail down to the Huts on The Gargoyles. Clouds were moving in followed with a cooler wind so we decided to descend back to the huts before having another break. Great fun skiing downhill on our shoes.

Change out of our wet cloths and into some clean dry t-shirts to head back down. All in all we covered about 27-28 km and I figure between 1300 and 1400 elevation in seven hours and 40 minutes which got us back to the car with plenty of sunshine left in the day.

This not a difficult hike and works well for my legs on snow shoes. It is just a long hike that is great for condtioning.

Thought for the day: Count yourself lucky I’am not a twin!
