Six of us did this A2a-rated hike at an easy pace.
Description: vancouvertrails.com/trails/dog-mountain
Our GPS track: gaiagps.com/datasummary/track/9c3bfcc3053ac0df0dff1f27198989b2
We planned to meet at Bean Around the World cafe in North Vancouver’s Parkgate Village, at 10:30am, then carpool up Mt Seymour Road. But our rendezvous suffered some confusion that we could avoid in future by specifying:
- Park your cars on Banff Court just north of Parkgate Village, checking the parking signs to avoid restricted sections. Then walk across the parking lot to the cafe.
- Meet inside the cafe or outside? (Leader specify.)
- If some hikers haven’t met the leader before, say what colour hat/shirt/jacket leader is wearing. I had listed this hike as “Firm” i.e. RSVP not required, which made this more of an issue.
Much of the trail was still snow-covered. Good thing we all had poles.
It was a sunny weekend, so there were many others on the trail. Quite a few dogs too, most of which were off leash in spite of the on-leash rule.
Ate our lunches at the destination, the Dog Mountain viewpoint, home of a raven with impressive food-theft skills!
