Eight of us met at Starbucks, base of Grouse gondola, at 9:45am. Rode the gondola up and started hiking. There was still metre-deep snow piled on most of the ground, but the main pathways were cleared through the downhill ski area. We walked to just past the bear pen, then put on micro-spikes.
Weather was sunny and unusually warm, reaching a high of 17 degrees C on the mountaintop later that day. So the snow softened quite a bit.
We followed mostly packed trails in the snow, only post-holing a few times, so didn’t miss having snowshoes. Still, those of us without gaiters got a little snow in our boots.
Two of us signed out of the hike at the top of Dam Mtn, choosing not to add the side-trip to Thunderbird Ridge.
Had a leisurely snack at Tbird Ridge viewpoint, and headed back to chalet. Took about 3 hours 20 minutes from chalet back to chalet.

A beautiful day on a favourite snow hike! 🙂
