Dawned a beautiful day and five members started out from Franklin and Kamloops. We met two ladies who had parked near the gun club on Harper Road. Changes are in the works – no Pinecone Burke Provincial Map at the trailhead but Worksafe BC sign-in sheets. We signed in just in case! BC Hydro is making huge alterations in this area; a new road going left near the beginning which you don’t take and various land disfigurations in the distance.

I guess, these changes are for future power needs – to run all our gadgets and the sprouting local housing boom! The regular route has been so disrupted that we caught a connector further up at a major bend, perhaps, where the South Slope trail begins. No problem, the best part starts here but not much recent volunteer trail maintenance has happened. Cristina brought her clippers, and I, a light saw, but the ‘snip and hike’ momentum faded quickly with the priority of reaching our destination, lunch and Ted Kay Lake. The remembrances of lovely tarns and streams will get us through another week in the city. Thank you all for participating and I look forward to your photos.  M. Tainsh
