Thank you Ye for organizing the two bridges bike ride on a beautiful sunny warm day.
She has picked the right time to meet at the start destination at 10 am which is good to avoid frosting on the road.
We were following the NSH CoVID guidelines and the trip was full with 6 participants at anytime.
Three of us met near Commercial Drive to start our ride to Stanley Park. Ye took us onto bike route that avoid busy street riding that was great for newbies and safer for any cyclists.
We arrived at the “fallen tree” at the entrance of Stanley Park around 10:30 and met with three other cyclists. All six of us rode together until we set off onto the Lions Gate Bridge. One rider left us there. Then, the five of us rode forward and onward across the bridge to pick up another happy soul at the other end. We will be still in the limits of 6!
We rode to our lunch destination at Lonsdale Quay via Spirit Trail. We arrived at the Quay and were greeted by some Christmas Carol performers. We had an extended lunch soaking in the sun at the Quay that was full of holiday spirit. Some of us enjoyed the delicious Pad Thai bought from the market.
On the way back, we rode thru the Second Narrow Bridge that was forever under construction. We required to make some not very pleasant detours…. but it was short and we all managed it well over the long, steep and noisy bridge back to the other side of Vancouver harbour. Ye took us to the New Brighton Park before two of the riders left us.
The threesomes then rode via Lakewood Bikeway all the way back to where we start this morning…. and we arrived well before 2:00 – a promising 4 hours bike ride – right on!
Thank you Ye and everyone coming out for this two bridges ride around Vancouver Harbour… It’s another great trip!
