A small group of NSHikers spiked our way up Black Mountain to see the panoramic view from Eagle Bluffs. We were lucky enough to enjoy great weather — sun and cloud and warm enough to hike in shirtsleeves. We were concerned that the snow might be soft due to the warmth; however there is still a hard crust, especially on the trail itself.
Many thanks to Bengul, our fearsome leader, and to Mark, who was our sweeper.

PS — Club promotion idea:
I usually bring a spare paper copy of a trail map. Sure enough, we met two hikers who were very unsure of the trails. Gave them the map, some advice on routes, and a North Shore Hikers card (website, email). “Join us, you’ll never get lost!”
