MemberFive of us started to hike at 9:30 am. I had one cancelation early in the morning. The weather was supposed to be “dry” by noon…
We enjoyed the temperate rainforest scenery along the trail: hanging mosses, mushrooms… We had the chance to take photos with the Big Cedar (600 years old), which has been fenced in early this year to prevent further erosion around it because of us (hikers)!
The hike to the Big Cedar and Kennedy Falls is one of my fav hikes. Because you can walk in the forest and make it a great hike for a rainy or cloudy day…
Before noon, it started to rain. When we arrived at Kennedy Falls at noon, we had a quick lunch stop. The falls were gorgeous since we have had a lot of rainy days lately, a lot of water was falling down and rushing to join Lynn Creek…
After a few photo ops we just kept going. The trail was becoming small springs in some sections… You have to find your way around it… As one of the hikers described it: “the trail was muddy and slippery and we were getting wet” in the second half hike …
We came back to trailhead at 2:30 pm. As one of the new members says that “it was a fabulous ‘wet’ day but worth every drop!”
