I woke up with achy stiff muscles on my right side after biking “around the mountain”. Three of us met in Vancouver (two other bikers dropped out for personal issues) and biked to Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Moody, more Burnaby and back again in Vancouver. It was definitely a mountain bike day as we rode over mud puddles, roots, rocks, gravel and pushed our bikes up endless steep hills (reason for sore right side). The pipeline hill was extremely steep – my feet started to come out of my shoes as my 50 pound bike started to slip out of my hands. I had to use every bit of strength to keep upright!
We all discovered new trails that we never knew existed as we avoided Barnett Highway. All in all, we had a great time learning more about the beautiful bike network “around the mountain”.
