PHOTO SIZES: This forum now seems to accept uploaded photos larger than 1 MB (but less than 4 MB), and resizes them to less than 1 MB. But it often shows an error screen after uploading, even when it uploads OK. Try returning to the post and refreshing your browser to see if it actually uploaded OK. Sorry about the bug — fixing it is high on the webmaster to-do list.  🙂

To shrink a photo on your Mac:

Duplicate it, then double-click on the copy, which should open it in the Preview app. Go to top menu > Tools > Adjust size. Select options:

Fit into: Custom

Width & Height: 50 percent [that would reduce size to 50% x 50% = 25% of original, so adjust that number 50 to get size below 500KB]

Click OK then File > Save.

Hi Latham,

My name is Kam. I am a first time hike leader and I have a few questions regarding uploading photos:

1-It seems it only allow uploading 6 photos in one trip report?

2- Is maximum file size allowed for each individual picture at 4 MB, or altogether no larger than 4 MB ?

3-I have just uploaded 6 photos totalling  about 20 MB, and my posting do not appear. What did I do wrong?
