Your Backyard is Extraordinary.
We'll show you!
We’re a volunteer-run club built on one simple idea: hiking is better with people who know the mountains and know your name.
WHAT WE DO
Hiking · Road cycling · Snowshoeing · Backpacking · Backcountry skiing · Trail stewardship
Most trips explore Cypress, Grouse, and Seymour. In summer, we head farther afield to Garibaldi, Howe Sound Crest, Squamish, and multi-day adventures.

What is North Shore Hikers?
North Shore Hikers is a volunteer-run outdoor club based in Vancouver, BC.
Founded in 1958, the club organizes year-round hiking, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, road cycling, and backpacking trips, mostly on the North Shore mountains and beyond.
Trips are led by experienced volunteer members, not paid guides.
Is it free to join a North Shore Hikers event?
Yes — you can RSVP and join events as a guest at no cost.
We want you to come out on a few trips, get a feel for the club, meet the leaders, and decide if North Shore Hikers is the right fit for you. Once you've done that, we ask you to become a paid member for $30. The membership year runs through Nov 30/2026.
Membership directly supports the volunteer leaders who make every event possible — including liability insurance that protects them personally if they're ever sued for an incident on a trip.
To join, sign up on the North Shore Hikers Meetup, find an event that matches your fitness level. You'll be asked to sign this waiver right before the activity begins.
Learn more about membership | See the activity guidelines for more information.
Do you offer activities besides hiking?
Yes. Despite the name, North Shore Hikers runs a full year-round program that includes snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, cycling and backpacking alongside hiking.
